Today, on June 15th, 2025, we celebrate Father’s Day, a day to honour the men who have made a positive impact in the lives of their families and communities. As we commemorate this special day, Grow Your Dream Foundation Ghana would like to take a moment to reflect on the importance of men’s roles in promoting gender equality.
“Regenerating Discussions on Patriarchy” — As we celebrate fatherhood, we also recognise that patriarchy has been a significant obstacle to achieving gender equality. The biases and stereotypes that women face every day are often perpetuated by societal norms and expectations that are deeply ingrained in our communities. As men, it is essential that we take a step back and reflect on our own biases and behaviours. We must recognise that our actions, or lack thereof, can either perpetuate or challenge these biases. It is time for us to have open and honest discussions about the effects of patriarchy on women and girls.
A Call to Action — As we celebrate Father’s Day, we call on all men to join us in this critical conversation. Let us work together to: Challenge our own biases and stereotypes; Listen to and amplify the voices of women and girls; Support policies and initiatives that promote gender equality; Model positive behaviours and attitudes that promote respect and empathy.
Together, We Can Create Change – At Grow Your Dream Foundation Ghana, we believe that men have a critical role to play in promoting gender equality. We are committed to working with men and women to create a society that values and respects the contributions of all individuals. On this Father’s Day, we urge all men to take a pledge to be part of the solution. Let us work together to create a brighter future for everyone.
Happy Father’s Day!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ahiave Sedemo
